What is APC ?
Advanced Process Control (APC) are systems used to control multivariate and nonlinear processes, and whose dynamic equations are difficult to estimate. Advanced control systems can reduce variability of these processes, and are recommended for cases where conventional control techniques are unable to obtain acceptable process output.
APC systems can use artificial intelligence techniques and include methods that are multivariate, nonlinear, predictive, adaptive, and so on.
What is the FRONTROL system?
It is the Advanced Process Control System created by FRONTROL's amazing engineering. Frontrol System works in parallel to the plant controller and supervisory systems by means of a data acquisition strategy, operating via OPC, which makes the system almost universal for the existing conventional control systems.

What are the benefits?
When a process variable is more stabilized and controlled, it can generate benefits such as safety and operational comfort, significant reduction of energy use, and better quality of the final product.
What are the gains of having
such a system?
Although being a widely tested technology, it is an innovative approach for most processes. Its use can guarantee greater efficiency and safety in plant processes when controlling its critical variables, resulting in production gains, input savings, and minimal process interruptions.
How does it work?
For the operator, an advanced control loop interface does not differ much from a conventional control system. The main differences are in the form of obtaining the value of the variable that would act in the process. In general, advanced control techniques consider some features that conventional controls cannot handle, such as multiple inputs, non-linearities, and long dead times.
The Frontrol System uses intelligent control techniques that consider various quantities of the process, unlike conventional methods that are generally mono-variate. Thus, at each sampling instant, the Frontol System reads these variables and calculates the value of the variable that is applied to the final control element, significantly reducing the process variability.
How is it implemented to the client?
The implementation is done in four steps:
1. Data collection and analysis;
2. Controller configuration;
3. Implementation of Frontrol System;
4. Tests and adjustments.
It is worth mentioning that, in the implementation of advanced process control, two options are available to the operator: conventional control and advanced control. The implementation time depends on the number of control loops, the client’s infrastructure, and the availability of instruments for measuring variables. In some cases, Frontrol System can be implemented in a few days.
Frontrol System comes installed within an independent hardware which synchronizes with the client's hardware via OPC driver, therefore, resulting in minimal interference to the company’s current automation systems.
